BARCELONA -- Mahindra - British Telecom Limited (MBT), a leading IT solutions provider dedicated exclusively to the telecommunication industry, and VeriSign (Nasdaq: VRSN - message board), the leading provider of intelligent infrastructure services for the Internet and telecommunication networks, have formed an alliance to provide comprehensive security solutions that support next-generation network (NGN) services.
Under the alliance, the companies will develop and market an end-to-end security framework that can protect the integrity of a carrier’s infrastructure, applications and content. Addressing authentication, provisioning and infrastructure security and privacy, the framework features three security layers: the customer layer includes user and device security, authorization, authentication and network security; the provisioning layer addresses security and privacy needs related to providing access to third-party content and applications; and the content layer addresses content integrity and digital rights management.
"Our relationship with VeriSign goes back to 2001 when we established an interoperability lab for certification and integration services. We are building upon that to enhance our security portfolio for wireless operators. This alliance will help develop the skills of our resource base and enable us to take up similar projects with other clients," said Dr. Prem Chand, Vice President, Mahindra - British Telecom.

The alliance will leverage the telecom consulting skills and expertise of MBT and help market VeriSign’s Intelligent Commerce, Communications and Content (IC3) services in new geographical regions.
In addition to supporting VeriSign security solutions, MBT will provide implementation and product development and resell VeriSign Communications Services such as Wireless Data Roaming (WDRS), GPRS Roaming eXchange (GRX), Roamer View, Metcalf Intercarrier Short Messaging Service, Intercarrier Multimedia Messaging Services, PBX IP Connect, Enterprise Messaging Services and NetDiscovery. |
