IE Parent is a small utility to monitor Internet Explorer activity and give you chance to control it.
Backgrounds
Our security lab detected tendencies in virus-writing when hackers mask viruses (trojans, malware) within useful utilities.
Such viruses often access Internet for own needs. As software firewalls become very popular, virus writes had found nice and easy way to cheat them: virus creates hidden instance of MS Internet Explorer browser (that is usually trusted application) and uses it to access network.
Our response to such technique is IE Parent.
This version allows you to monitor appearance of such hidden IE processes and block such kind of activity.
Normally, when you using IE - it is visible. Hidden IE instance - is subject to think.
So think twice before you click Allow on IE Parent warning window...
What to do if you see warning?
You may see this warning in case some normal application creates instance of IE as ActiveX server component.
Denying such creation may cause application malfunction or crash.
Test your applications with IE Parent.
If you doing nothing but warning appears, there is very high probability of virus activity.
You should contact your antivirus supplier for latest virus definition database update.
In many cases you may have virus that is not in virus definition database. In this case you may contact us for consultations.
